College golf is a non-revenue sport so most college golf coaches are very careful about their recruiting budgets, they have limited resources, so, as well as looking at a high school golfer’s handicap and ranking they also look for academic achievement. Your GPA might make you eligible for an “exempt” academic scholarship at the college of your choice and this is very attractive to the coach. Remember, ” coaches recruit smart kids”.
