About American River College

American River College is a California public community college committed to high quality education through a wide selection of associate degrees and certificates. The college is located in the unengaged area of North Highlands in northern Sacramento County. It has four campus centers to serve the student population, considered to be one of the biggest for a community college in California. The facilities include the Mather Center, McClellan & Sacramento Public Safety Centers, Natomas Center, and the Twin Rivers Pre-Apprenticeship Training Center. It envisions its students to be academically and practically prepared to be future leaders in their chosen career.

Athletics Department of American River College

The Athletics Department of American River College not only promotes healthy sports activities for athletes and non varsity players; they also value the safety of students engaged in sports through professional treatment and prevention of injuries. They have qualified athletic trainers that work hand in hand with a team of physicians that include an orthopedic surgeon and a sports medicine specialist. The trainers are also supported by state-of-the-art fitness facilities.

The department is proud to offer classes in Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, and Practical Applications in Athletic/Sports Medicine which is in line with their safety course.

Athletic Programs of American River College

American River College has a roster of more than 500 student-athletes distributed in 20 intercollegiate sports teams. The sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field, and water polo for men and basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track & field, volleyball, water polo for women. As an active member of the Big 8 Conference for all sports, the teams participate in regular competitions in that conference except for football. The football team competes in the Northern California Football Association (NCFA). They also compete in other tournaments like the Beaver Invitational cross country, California community College Athletic Association and the Holy Names University Invitational among others.

With the love and support of fans of American River College Beavers, the athletes are inspired to perform at their peak level bringing excitement and winning scores. In 2013 alone, the women’s volleyball team won the Big 8 conference title for the first time. The men’s cross country team won the conference title in the same year for their third straight times. The women’s water polo on the other hand, is the 2013 NorCal Champions. Their campaigns in other sports have rewarded them with top or high honors in both team and individual categories.

Guide to Athletic Scholarships at American River College

As part of American River College support services, students are provided with financial assistance to help them reach their academic and athletic goals. The college staff also guides students to government, campus, private financial aid and scholarship opportunities available to them. Determined students can avail of this aid in the form of federal grants, loans, work study, state grants, fee waivers, and outside scholarships. In the area of athletic scholarship, the college created The Dusty Baker Student Athlete Support Center to provide academic counseling and assistance, athletic eligibility and advising, career planning, graduation and transfer guidance, and personal training to motivate student-athletes.
