Urbana University was founded in 1850 by followers of the 18th century Swedish scientist and philosopher, Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772). The school was the 2nd e3ducational institution in Ohio to admit women.

 Urbana offers a liberal arts education in a small college environment. From its founders, Urbana University inherited its tradition of emphasizing student learning through excellence in instruction, individual attention, career-oriented programs and critical reflection on moral and ethical issues. 

Urbana University offers the best of both worlds, the school is located on a One-Hundred and Twenty-acre campus in the small city of Urbana, Ohio, with the major metropolitan areas of Dayton and Columbus within an hour's drive.  With Twenty-Four academic majors and a wide variety of organizations and activities, students have a plenty of opportunities from which to choose.

The campus consists of academic and administrative buildings including the modern Lewis and Jean Moore Center for Mathematics and Science, the multipurpose Warren G. Grimes Center.

The governing body of golf in the united States is the United States Golf Association (USGA), founded in 1894. This organization, with headquarters in Far Hills, New Jersey, rules on ball and club specifications and other such regulations such as hazards and scoring. It liaises with the Royal and Ancient Club of St. Andrews when reviewing international rules.
