Union College is a small independent liberal arts college situated on a 100 acre campus in the Appalachian Mountains in south-eastern Kentucky. The institution is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and was founded in 1879.

The College has nearly six hundred undergraduates and over three hundred graduate students that represent twenty three states and several foreign countries. The School's academic program fulfills the goal of a liberal arts education. Union College also provides students with the skills necessary to complete successfully in a diverse and challenging job market. The undergraduate liberal arts curriculum makes available a body of knowledge that is drawn from the humanities, applied sciences, natural sciences and social sciences. Majors and areas of study in pre-professional, technical and skills-oriented fields enhance postgraduate employment opportunities.

   The College is a member institution of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Union is also a member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference and the Mid-South Conference (football only.)

The College takes part in a wide variety of intercollegiate athletics and sponsors twenty one different sports programs as well as a cheerleading squad. The school competes in men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, cycling, football, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s track and field ( outdoor and indoor) and volleyball.

The game of backgammon is played on a specially designed board consisting of 4 tables of 6 thin points or triangles on each table. The points start from the edges of the board nearest the players and are directed inwards so that they form 2 rows of twelve points opposite each other.

College dining halls provide a lot of food choices in a new eating environment. Healthy eating does not have to be hard. You just need to keep these general nutrition principles in mind.
