Demarini 375 MX Softball Bat Review
DeMarini says the 375 is designed for low compression balls and that is true
in two ways: when hitting 375-pound maximum compression balls, the bat
responds in much the same way as the original DeMarini Doublewall did when
hitting the harder COR and compression balls of its day – with outstanding
performance and more pop than you maybe thought the swing deserved.
So it is extremely important that the 375 be used only in situations where
44 COR/375 compression softballs, or softer, are being used. Under those
conditions, this bat will have you believing that it is 1996 all over again
and you can hit.
With every league going to low compression balls for competition, it was
getting harder and harder to make multi-walled bats perform well. The 375 MX
performs on these balls like a multi-wall should. It doesn’t feel any
different in the hands than other bats; it is balanced and weights are
pretty true, that is a 28 feels like a 28. The difference is in performance.
Our non-power hitters were hitting more home runs than usual and most
contact was good contact, which means the sweet spot must be pretty easy to
find. Our power hitters had an easy time of it as well, and with the 375
balls did not dent the bat like we thought they might. |

Just to see what would happen, after
test hit 375 balls a combined 600 or so times, we unwrapped a second
bat and set out to hit a batch of 525 compression balls. Again, the
performance was like the original DeMarini, but before we got to 200
swings the bat was smashed flat. While the bat we used with the 375
compression balls showed no noticeable damage, we would recommend
the 375 be a personal use bat instead of a team bat.
The 375 has a smooth, anodized finish. It has DeMarini’s usual
13-inch barrel and thin 7/8” handle. It features DeMarini’s bat
rotation index and Wilson’s Positrack basketball texture grip. It
meets all new Bat Performance Standards. |
