FORMER JUCO BASKETBALL PLAYER TO
COACH MICHIGAN MAYHEM
Mayhem announces franchise's first head
coach.
The Michigan Mayhem announced during a Wednesday morning press conference
that they have named former CBA player Reggie Fox as head coach of the
expansion franchise, pending league approval. Fox, a six-year CBA player and an eleven-year member of the
Magic Johnson All-Stars, is a native of Baldwin, Michigan, located
68 miles from the Mayhem’s home in Muskegon.
This stays right in line with our Mission Statement, stated Mayhem
General Manager Peter Jackson. We are very excited to have a young,
energetic, and enthusiastic person as our first head coach who will
lead our team and excite our crowds at the L.C. Walker Arena this
season. In the CBA, we have an opportunity to see the players and
coaches today who will be the stars of the NBA tomorrow.Fox, a
two-time All-State prep player at Baldwin High School, began his
collegiate career at Muskegon Community College, where he averaged
19 points and six rebounds per game as a freshman. He was voted the
teams Most Valuable Player and was also named a Michigan Community
College Athletic Association (MCCAA) All-Star. He then transferred
to the University of Wyoming for his final three years, and remains
second in Cowboys history with 165 career three-point field goals
made.

In 1989, Fox was drafted by the Grand Rapids Hoops and played
six seasons with four different teams in the CBA. During the 1995-96 season,
Fox averaged a career-best 19.6 points and 4.6 assists per game as captain
of the Sioux Falls Sky-force. In the 1996 postseason, he led the Sky-force
with 20.2 points and 4.1 assists per contest, as he helped Sioux Falls
capture their only CBA Championship. For eleven
years, Fox also played for the Magic Johnson All-Stars, a touring team
comprised of former professional players, and has worked as a coach at Magic
Johnson Camps for 15 years.
I am very excited about the challenge ahead of me,
stated Fox, who made the playoffs in all six of his CBA seasons. I feel
that this is a good situation for success with a strong organizational
foundation and a community hungry for a professional organization to
support.

I learned from the best disciplinarian, Magic Johnson, that a strong work
ethic and being a perfectionist ultimately will lead to success.
Fox and his Michigan Mayhem tip-off the CBA's 59th consecutive season on
Friday, November 19, when they host the Great Lakes Storm at the L.C. Walker
Arena in downtown Muskegon.
