All the tools and information on this website are free. Learn how to apply for a softball scholarship.

MOST athletic scholarships are not "full-ride" they are partial only. The majority of college sports are classified as equivalency sports by the NCAA. What this means is that college softball coaches can offer more scholarships at a smaller percentage.

NCAA DI  12 scholarships per college.
NCAA DII  7.2 scholarships per college.

Softball scholarships are also available at NAIA affiliated colleges and some junior colleges as well.

Pleas note that college coaches attend Regional, National, and State fast pitch tournaments. Remember that coaches tend to  "track" players that have contacted them.

TRAVEL TEAMS.

The best travel teams are usually made up of the top high school players in each state. College coaches are much more likely to attend these games that a high school game. If you have submitted your resume and your playing on a travel team you can just almost count on being watched.

Junior College Softball Scholarships.

Most of the top colleges and universities, including junior colleges, run their own softball camps as well over the summer. These softball camps will provide you with very specific additional development and training and you will also be seen by the college softball coaches.

If you want to play NCAA Division I or II softball as a freshman, you must initially register and be certified by the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse. Take a look at the NCAA Academic Eligibility section to see what initial-eligibility standards apply to you.

 

Softball became a NCAA sanctioned sport in 1910 but the first NCAA College World Series was not held until1982.

Softball is one of only three sports in the NCAA which are designated as women only sports, the others are Field Hockey and Rowing. The NCAA Division II and Division III championships also began in 1982.

The battle for recognition of the wonderful game of softball is over. Softball has won a place among America's foremost sports." The recognition of the sport increased tremendously when softball was finally accepted as an Olympic sport in 1991.

In 1887, George Hancock, a journalist for the Chicago Board of Trade, invented softball. He designed the game as a form of indoor baseball on a cold winter day inside the warm Farragut Boat Club.

Just A Game by Erika Mueller Fastpitch is not just what I play, an extracurricular to pass the time, another letter for my varsity jacket, or even a way to meet new friends. I love this game and have experienced every emotion through my playing. It may just be a game to most, but to me, this game is my life. It is what I live for.

My softball team the California Tornadoes is a mix of "preps", "rockers", and all the other typical high school stereotypes. Our team has been together for a year now, last year we qualified for western nationals in Florida. Read more...
