NCAA ATHLETIC CONFERENCES DIV III

UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

The University Athletic Association (UAA) is a member athletic conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Div. III. Member colleges are situated in Georgia, Missouri, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, Pennsylvania Ohio and New York.

The Conference is the only D III conference to have all of its member universities also affiliated with the Association of American Universities, which is an organization with sixty member schools that are all research based. Because of this the conference is sometimes referred to as the "Nerdy Nine" or "cerebral league". There are only 8 member institutions so I don't really know where "nine" came from.

Members institutions of the UAA share in the belief that athletic excellence and academic excellence are not mutually exclusive.
