PENNSYLVANIA STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
The
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, (PSAC), has now entered it's
59th year of organized sport. the conference has established itself
as one of the top NCAA Division II athletic conferences.
The PSAC was formed in
1951 for the purpose of administering and promoting men’s
athletic programs within the fourteen state teachers colleges in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 1977, because of the growth and
interest of women’s athletics, the conference was restructured to
cater for women’s sports programs.
One of the largest
athletic conferences in the country, the PSAC is governed by the
presidents of the fourteen member schools. It employs a
commissioner, 2 assistant commissioners and a director of media
relations at its headquarters in Lock Haven, Pa.
Historically, the PSAC has been a very successful conference,
winning thirty eight NCAA team championships and two hundred and ten
individual title winners.
