NESCAC NEW ENGLAND SMALL COLLEGE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
NESCAC was founded in 1971. the conference is made up of a group of 11 highly selective liberal arts universities and colleges that share a similar philosophy for intercollegiate athletics. The Conference was created out of a concern for the direction of intercollegiate athletic programs, and remains committed to keeping a proper perspective on the role of sport in higher education.
In 1999, the NESCAC was formally named a playing conference and now sponsors twenty six conference championship sports (13 for women and 13 for men). Member institutions offer broad based and extensive intercollegiate as well as intramural and club opportunities for both men and women. Member schools sponsor an average of about thirty varsity programs, NESCAC provides more than 7,500 opportunities for participation in sport at NCAA at the Division III level.
