MOUNTAIN WEST conference
The Mountain West Conference was founded 1998,
when the presidents of 8 schools -- Air Force, BYU,
New Mexico,
Colorado State, San Diego State, UNLV, Utah and
Wyoming -- agreed to form a new National Collegiate Athletic
Association Division I-A
intercollegiate athletic conference.
The Mountain West Conference is committed to
excellence in college athletics, while at the same time
promoting the academic ideals of its member schools. the
conference continues to offer opportunities for
student-athletes to compete at the highest level, while
fostering sportsmanship and academic achievement.
The conference covers a broad geographical
area of the western USA with member colleges situated in Nevada,
Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
College Sports Television (CSTV) and the
Mountain West Conference announced a visionary partnership
in 2004 that dramatically altered the college sports landscape. The landmark
agreement was the first NCAA Division I men's basketball
and football conference-wide deal for CSTV.
