AMERICAN LACROSSE CONFERENCE

 

The Patriot League is a NCAA college athletic conference that is located in the north-east of the USA.

The Patriot League first started as a distinguished Division I-AA (now known as the Football Championship Subdivision) football conference in 1986.

League members schools have also been successful on the playing field. The Patriot League sponsors twenty three championship sports (12 for women and 11 for men). Championship teams from fourteen sports are guaranteed automatic advancement to the National Collegiate Athletic Association post-season competition. These sports are: baseball, women and men's basketball, football, field hockey, men's golf, women and men's soccer, women and men's lacrosse, volleyball, women and men's tennis and softball.

During the long history of the league more than two hundred and twenty five teams have been chosen for post-season play in the NCAA, ECAC or National Invitational tournaments.

    The Patriot League also claims about one hundred individual student-athletes who have qualified for NCAA Championships. More than 235 students from the Patriot League have became All-American.
