AMERICAN LACROSSE CONFERENCE

 

The American Lacrosse Conference, also known as the ALC, is a National collegiate Athletic association Division I women's only lacrosse conference. the member institutions are situated on the East Coast, Midwest and the Southeastern states.

The American Lacrosse Conference was formed in October of 2001, and was made up of seven charter schools. The ALC is dedicated to the enhancement and sound management of intercollegiate lacrosse as an integral part of student life.

The American Lacrosse Conference was formed 6 years ago as a lacrosse-only conference that is composed of six teams: Johns Hopkins University, The Ohio State University, Penn State University, Northwestern University, Ohio University and Vanderbilt University.

In 2010, two more Southeastern Conference colleges will join the conference, Florida and  South Carolina. South Carolina will become the first Division I program in the state of South Carolina to offer women's lacrosse. Of the seventy nine Division I NCAA institutions offering women's lacrosse for the 2007 season, seventy four are east of the Mississippi River.
