atlantic soccer conference

Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) is sport specific in that the only intercollegiate sport is soccer. The ASC is a NCAA Division I conference and its champion automatically  becomes eligible for bid to the annual NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.

the conference was formed in 2000 and began with nine (9) universities and colleges. These institutions offered Men's Soccer -NCAA division I while at the same time holding different divisional classifications within the National Collegiate Athletic Association membership. The founding members were:

• Adelphi University
• University at Albany
• Binghamton University
• Florida International University
• Howard University
• Oneonta College
• Philadelphia University
• Stonybrook University

University of Albany, Birmingham University, Stonybrook University and Longwood are no longer members of the conference.

• Florida International University won the 2004 ASC Championship, its 4th win in the league's four-year history.

• Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne was to join the ASC in 2006 as the seventh member college and become eligible for the automatic qualifier awarded to the winner of the league's annual conference soccer tournament.
