ATLANTIC 10 CONFERENCE

The A-10 or Atlantic 10 Conference is a national Collegiate Athletic Association college athletic conference whose member schools are mostly situated on the eastern seaboard.

The Atlantic 10 Conference was formed on On March 2, 1975. the conference was originally a 8 member men’s only basketball conference. This has now grown into a 14-college, 21-sport league that is considered by many to be the best in the United states.

The Atlantic 10 Conference covers a population area of close to 73 million people and it’s geographic area takes in eight states and the District of Columbia. there are 21 championship sports; baseball, women’s and men’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track & field, women’s lacrosse, women’s and men’s cross country, field hockey, men’s golf, women’s rowing, softball, men’s and women’s swimming & diving, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s volleyball.

The Atlantic 10 names an Academic All-Conference team in each of the sports its sponsors. In addition, one student-athlete from each sport is honored as Student-Athlete of the Year. In 2005-06, over 170 student-athletes were named to A-10 Academic All-Conference teams.
