American mideast conference region IX

The American Mideast Conference, formerly known as the Mid-Ohio Conference, has completed Fifty Six years of providing quality athletic competition for academically qualified student-athletes.

The American Mideast Conference, which is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, believes that college athletics is an integral part of the total educational program of each of its member institutions.

The latest expansion of the conference included 5 schools who opened AMC play in fall of2001. The list included  3 New York schools - Roberts Wesleyan College, Deaden College and Houghton College. Also joining were 2 schools who compete in women's athletics only - Carlow College and Ursuline College.

The following intercollegiate sports are offered:

Women's Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Golf, Tennis, and Track & Field. Men's Cross Country, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Golf, Tennis, and Track & field.

Early amateur scullers and oarsmen were also often boxers, with some rowing clubs also including boxing sections. Rowing was introduced at Oxford University in the late 1700s and in 1806 the sport of rowing was also introduced at Eton College.
