MALONE COLLEGE

history and sports information

Malone College has grown from the dreams and labors of an energetic Friends couple, Emma and Walter Malone.

Before the turn of the century, their ideals relating to the education of Christian young people led them to rent a house and begin the Cleveland Bible College and, in 1957, it moved to Canton and was renamed Malone College in honor of its founders.

The College enjoys a unique relationship with its affiliated denomination, the Evangelical Friends Church-Eastern Region and the community. Faculty, staff and students represent approximately Forty denominations. This diversity provides for a greater understanding of the breadth and depth of Christian thought.

Malone College men's athletic program won the 2005-2006 American Mideast Conference All-Sports Award, which takes into account a school’s overall performance in the 7 AMC men's championship sports, while the Pioneer women's program finished 3rd (taking into account the 8 AMC women’s championship sports).

Unlike other sports where weightlifting to build muscle mass and strength is very important, success in martial arts is built on strategy, technique, mental discipline, endurance and flexibility.
