Junior College softball recruiting information

Your a high school softball player and you are probably very good, probably the best at your school, well here is a news flash. Unless you are in the top 5%, or elite category, don't expect the coaches to come knocking at your door.

If you want to be recruited, especially at community college level, you have to make it happen. You have to contact the coaches and let them know who you are and what you have to offer their sports program.

NJCAA softball is played in all 3 divisions but athletic scholarships are only offered at division 1 and 2 level.

The NJCAA allows 24 scholarships per school. These are full-ride but individual schools can offer partial grants in aid. Top players tend to receive the best offers. There are 148 division 1 and 122 division 11 colleges that offer financial aid.  Each school can only offer 24 scholarships in total, unlike the NCAA they cannot offer a larger number of at a lower percentage.

Community college coaches do not have the big athletic budgets that NCAA coaches have so they cant actively recruit or hire scouts. Many JC coaches don't allocate all of their recruiting budget each year simply because they were not approached by suitable athletes.

Just A Game by Erika Mueller Fastpitch is not just what I play, an extracurricular to pass the time, another letter for my varsity jacket, or even a way to meet new friends. I love this game and have experienced every emotion through my playing. It may just be a game to most, but to me, this game is my life. It is what I live for.

In 1887, George Hancock, a journalist for the Chicago Board of Trade, invented softball. He designed the game as a form of indoor baseball on a cold winter day inside the warm Farragut Boat Club.

The battle for recognition of the wonderful game of softball is over. Softball has won a place among America's foremost sports." The recognition of the sport increased tremendously when softball was finally accepted as an Olympic sport in 1991.

Physical conditioning is probably one of the most important things an athlete should do prior to the start of the season in order to decrease the chances of an injury, particularly the soreness that occurs during the first few days of practices.

Study after study has shown that physical activity mitigates the loss of muscle strength and endurance, indicating that if older adults focus energy on muscular, skeletal, balance and mobility training, they will maintain a functionally superior quality of life well into old age.

The best netball countries are Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England and Trinidad and Tobago. Australia has won Eight of the Ten World Championships since 1960 and are currently ranked No. One in the world.

Vincennes University supports a well-rounded intercollegiate athletics program for both women and men and has a strong presence in the National Junior College Athletic Association where they can claim several national championships.

Dean College participates in Intercollegiate athletics in Region XXI (New England) of the National Junior College Athletic Association and is a Division II member.
