Junior College lacrosse recruiting information

You're a high school lacrosse player and maybe the best at your school, well we have some news for you. Unless you are in the top 5%, or elite category, junior college coaches wont come looking for you.

To get recruited, especially at JUCO level, you have to make it happen. You have to contact the lacrosse coaches and let them know who you are and what you have to offer their lacrosse program.

The NJCAA allows 20 scholarships per school for both men and women. These are full-ride grants but some junior college's offer partial scholarships. Top athletes of course tend to receive the best offers. There are 26 colleges that offer lacrosse scholarships for men and 11 colleges for women. Each college can only offer 20 in total, unlike the NCAA they cannot offer a larger number of scholarships at a lower percentage.

If you haven't done as well academically as you wanted, a community college can give you an additional opportunity  to improve your GPA, then apply to a four-year school. Remember, you will be gaining credits while you are improving your GPA!

JC coaches do not have the larger athletic budgets that NCAA coaches have so they cant actively recruit or hire scouts. A lot of coaches don't allocate all of their lacrosse recruiting budget each year simply because they were not approached by suitable lacrosse players.

Youth players comprise over 67% of US Lacrosse membership. High school players account for 15%, followed by adult players, 6 %, coaches 6% and officials 2%.
