PLAYING SPORT AT COLLEGE

For every high school athlete being recruited by the big college athletic programs, there are 100's of other students who like playing sports but either don't want the added pressure or responsibility of playing varsity sports or are not quite up to that standard.

Student-athletes need to always remember to be students first, and there are more opportunities to compete on the playing field outside of the varsity teams than you might think.

Intramural and club sports are offered on most campuses and are usually ran by the students themselves. This permits students to compete for fun rather than conference championships. Many colleges have offices within their athletic departments that deal exclusively with intramural and club sports programs.

Club sports are normally open to all members of the campus community (students, staff, faculty) and may actually compete against other clubs teams on other campuses.
