All about Mountain Bikes
Mountain Biking
A mountain bike is a tough, high-performance
bicycle used for 2 different types of racing, cross-country and downhill.
The name is a bit confusing and maybe "Off
road bike" would be more accurate, but the name came about because the
bicycle was originally designed for riding down mountain tracks and
cross-country racing came later.
The prototype of the mountain bikes were
first developed in Marin County, Ca., north of San Francisco in 1977. Otis
Guy, Gary Fisher, Joe Breeze and Craig Mitchell were the earliest designers,
builders and promoters. In the early 1980s, a few Californian riders started putting derailleur gears
on old balloon-tire cruisers and racing them down steep mountain trails and
roads. The bicycles they built were the 1st mountain bikes. Those California
riders, such as Tom Ritchey, Gary Fisher and Mike Sinyard are now as famous as the labels on some of the more
popular brands of mountain bikes.

brisk walking lead to a decrease in diastolic blood pressure.
Significant reductions in feelings of tension and anxiety were found
with brisk walking of both
patterns. Maximal oxygen uptake increased more with short bouts than
with long, however.
