We rate Bethpage as the second best golf course in the country, the site of the 2002 U. S. Open, Bethpage state park is best known for its 5 world-class golf courses.

1000's of visitors come to the park for more than golf. Visitors enjoy its bridle paths, picnic facilities, hiking and biking trails, tennis courts, playing fields, sledding hills, cross-county skiing trails and even a polo field. Also available at Bethpage is a restaurant and catering facilities

This public facility has 5 outstanding 18 hole courses.

The Black and Blue courses are the more difficult because of the many hills, so there are many  uneven lies. The rough defining the fairways is quite deep, and locals say it's a long way from the tees to the greens.

In 2002, GOLF MAGAZINE rated the Black Course third on the list of "Top one hundred Courses You Can Play in the United States" Bethpage was also chosen as fifty first among the "Top one hundred Courses in the United States." for 1995, and thirty fourth in 1997, twenty eighth for 1999, and fourth for 2000.

The Blue Course is very tight on the front 9 and open on the back 9. The Green Course is an excellent choice for intermediate players because it features very small greens. The Yellow Course is built on flat terrain and is ideal as a beginner's course. The Red Course is also good for intermediate golfers.

The green fees for the Black Course are higher because it's the facility's signature course. This course was the site of the 2002 United States Open. The "ladies'" tee on the Black Course is played primarily by men and has a men's course rating of 73.1 and a slope rating of 140.
