Six great ways to improve your fitness

 

Stay in shape and lose weight

If your goal is to lose weight then getting fit is the way to go, just about all of us can benefit from taking part in some sort of physical activity.

Getting fit will increase your energy levels, make you look good, keeps you healthy and better able to fight off illness and infections and keeps you more mentally alert.

1) Walking
Walking is a easy and relaxing way to get started on a fitness program. You can vary the intensity of your walking depending on your fitness level and/or goals. There are lots of great paths and trails all over the USA that cater to walking enthusiasts. Best of all, walking is as great for beginners as it is for advanced athletes.

2) In Line Skating
Inline skating gives you a full body work and it's also great fun. Get great looking abs, strong legs and improve your  cardio fitness in less than thirty minutes a day! All you need to get started are a pair of roller blades, safety gear and a flat surface.

   3) Weight Training
If you want to trim down a bit and look- toned then weight lifting (along with some sort of cardio activity) is a great way to do it. Weight training is not just for the body building crowd, it can be beneficial to everybody. The more muscle mass you have, the more efficiently your body burns calories. Weight training requires some guidance and discipline, but is an excellent way to get your body feeling and looking great.

4) Swimming
Swimming is often referred to as a total body sport, it is a  a wonderful activity for anyone with joint problems, back injuries or other health concerns. Because swimming is a non impact sport, the risk of impact related injury is non-existent.

5) Skateboarding
Going for a run on your skateboard is just as good for building a fitness base as snowboarding, running or surfing. As long as you keep your heart rate in the cardio building zone and don't take unnecessary risks, skateboarding can be the perfect way for a busy person to get into shape.

6) Bike Riding
Cycling - you have probably done it since you were very young - is one of the best ways to get in shape, and stay that way. Whether you choose mountain biking, cycling, or exercise bike training, bike riding is a fast way to raise your overall fitness while having fun.

Wallyball, also known as rebound volleyball, is a fast-paced game that was was invented in Calabasas, CA, in the summer of 1979 by Joe Garcia. The word "Wallyball" is a combination of "ball" and "wall".

While the leap from laboratory animals to human beings is still hypothetical, the speakers in this AAAS symposium predicted human trials of gene enhancement for muscle diseases in the near future.
