Corning Community College was founded in 1956 as part of the Corning-Painted Post School District and is regarded as a  testimony to the region's ability to take a great vision through to completion. 

Corning Community College sits on a five hundred and fifty acre main campus on Spencer Hill comprising a complex of 8 buildings plus a planetarium and observatory. The College provides services at a number of off-campus sites throughout Steuben, Chemung and Schuyler counties. 

Today, students from age sixteen to seventy attend Corning Community College and take courses in forty eight different degree and certificate programs that lead to careers or transfer to a 4 year university. Many doctors, engineers, lawyers, nurses, business people, teachers, technologists and even an astronaut have \been educated at Corning Community College. Currently, about three thousand three hundred full-time equivalent (FTE) students are enrolled.

RED BARON ATHLETICS

The college is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and competes in the Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) in Region III.

Eight intercollegiate sports are offered:

Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Softball, Men's Soccer, Women's Basketball, Baseball, Women's' soccer and golf.
