SOUTHERN COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

Centre College was founded on January 21, 1819. Classes began in the fall of 1820 in the first building of the College, Old Centre, with a student body of five AND A faculty of two.

Centre College is rated in the top fifty national liberal arts colleges. the college is situated in the "centre" of Kentucky in Danville.

The school has a student body of over 1,200  with an eleven to one student to faculty ratio. Centre offers a choice of twenty five majors and twenty five minors. Choices of major are virtually limitless at Centre since self-designed majors are encouraged. The average class size is eighteen, and there are no large lecture classes. Social live on campus is varied and very active. There are over 100 societies, clubs, teams, and other informal and formal groups.

The athletic teams at Centre College compete in the NCAA Division III Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Centre College's Men's Cross Country team finished the season well with their best regional finish ever, 6th out of 32 represented teams. Earning All-Region and All-Conference honors were Sophomore Mark Noll and Senior Colin Muehlenkamp.

Centre College is constantly upgrading the recreation and athletic playing fields to accommodate the increasing demands of the student body for quality playing surfaces.

Centre does not grant athletic scholarships but each year award over eight million dollars in need-based financial aid and scholarships.

The Colonels’ tradition of athletic excellence can be traced back to what some describe as the biggest sporting upset of the 20th century – when the college defeated the then number one ranked and undefeated Harvard in 1921 to take out the national football championship.
