CENTRAL ALABAMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Central Alabama Community College was founded on February 23, 1989 by the Alabama State Board of Education. The Board, in effect, consolidated Nunnelley State Technical College and Alexander City State Junior College.

 
In Sept. of 1966, Alexander City State Junior College was moved to its permanent position on Cherokee Road. On October 23, 1966, Governor George Corley Wallace delivered the address at the formal dedication of the Institution. Alexander City State Junior College was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in Dec. of 1969. A new library was completed in Jan. of 1969 and a Health, Education, and Arts complex completed in Jan. of 1970.

Central Alabama Community College is approved to take part in the following programs: Federal Pell Grants; FFELP Stafford Loans; FFELP PLUS Loans; Alabama Student Assistance Program Grant (ASAP); Federal College Work Study (FCWS); Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG); Federal Community Service College Work Study; Vocational Rehabilitation; Workforce Investment Act; and Trade Adjustment Act.

As well as the above mentioned programs, Central Alabama Community College also participates in institutional scholarships, privately sponsored scholarships, and benefits for veterans and dependents of veterans.

The College provides the residents of central Alabama with continuing opportunities for the development of knowledge and skills through educational programs that are accessible, affordable and responsive to the needs of community, industry, business and government.

Central Alabama Community College maintains an "open door" admission policy that ensures educational opportunities for the school's service area residents from all racial, sexual, ethnic, and social groups within the guidelines established by the State Board of Education.
