HOW TO PLAY GIN RUMMY

Gin Rummy is usually a two player game with both players  receiving ten cards.
One standard pack of fifty two cards is used. Cards in each suit are ranked from low to high.

A 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 J Q K The value of the cards is fairly standard IE: King, Queen and Jack = 10
the Ace has a one point value. All other cards receive their number value. IE: six=6 points.

The 1st dealer is chosen randomly, and the deal then alternates between the players. Each player receives 10 cards, one at a time. The 21s tcard is turned face up to begin the discard pile and the rest of the deck is placed face down beside it and becomes the stock

The object of the game is to arrange as many as possible of the 10 cards in your hand into sets. There are 2 kinds of sets: groups and sequences.

A group is 3 or 4 cards of the same rank, such as 6, 6, 6. 

A sequence is made up of 3 or more cards of the same suit in consecutive order, such as 3, 4, 5 or 7, 8, 9, 10. A card can belong to only one set at a time.

GAME PLAY

The Draw -- A player must begin by taking one card from either the top card on the discard pile or the top card on the stock pile and adding it to your hand. The discard pile is always face up. The stock is face down, so if you choose to take a card from the stock you do not know what that card is. If you draw from the stock, you add the card to your hand without showing it to the other players.

your turn is completed when you discard one card from your hand and place it on top of the discard pile face up.

For the 1st turn of the hand, the draw is done in a special way. First, the person who did not deal decides whether to take the turned up-card. if the player does not take the card then the dealer may take the card.

 If both players refuse the turned-up card, the non-dealer takes a card from the stock pile. Whichever player took a card finishes their turn by discarding and then it is the other player's turn to play.
