Like Gin Rummy, players pick up and
discard on each turn in order to form melds. Unlike Gin, straights and suits
do not matter in Canasta. Melds consist of three or more cards of the same
number. Players lay their melds face-up on the table on their turn. When
melds consist of seven or more cards of the same number, these special melds
are called "canastas." Canastas are worth bonus points. Two's and Jokers are wild. They can form
melds with any other card, but they cannot be melded all by themselves. If
you "meld out" (discard all of your cards) before your opponent, you win the
hand!
You must have at least one Canasta to meld
out. If your opponent goes out first, all of the cards left in your hand are
subtracted from your score as a penalty.
Each Red three is worth 100 points. Collect Red 3's to increase your Rank
and earn Game Award Badges!
|
IMPORTANT: You must complete each game in order to receive credit for your
Red 3's! You will receive credit for your red 3's when either you or your
opponent reaches 5,000 points.

Scientists are increasingly concerned that
sophisticated techniques for evading drug tests will make it difficult for
testers to catch athletes using steroids and other drugs, especially at
future athletic competitions when genetic-based enhancements are expected to
be prevalent.
The virus known as
hepatitis C is one of the nation's
newest and most frightening health threats, infecting the bodies of
4 million Americans, killing 10,000 every year and causing more than
half of the liver failures that lead to transplants.
