In 1839 Boston University started life as a Methodist seminary Vermont. The college was transferred to New Hampshire in 1847 and then relocated to Boston in 1867. the school is now internationally recognized as a top institution of research and learning.

Throughout its history, Boston University has remained true to its founding mission of providing an excellent education and helping students become valuable members of society. The schools most renowned ex student was Martin Luther King, Jr., who exemplifies the spirit of community and innovation that is a campus tradition.

approximately 18,000 undergraduate students attend the university. Boston University offers an honors program and internship opportunities. The institution offers major and minor concentrations in more than two hundred and fifty academic and professional fields of study. The liberal arts form the foundation of the educational programs while the Colleges and Schools  also advance professional training and applied learning.

The Terrier women's varsity heavyweight crew finished its season on Sunday, June 1, by finishing second in the third-level finals at the NCAA Rowing Championships. The university also won two elimination games over Albany, to take out its second consecutive America East Softball Championship.
