Two a days, by Anthony maule, norway high school

Well, here we go again, another football essay. By now you’re probably sick of reading about how being on the high school team has shaped a person’s life, how football teaches teamwork, and how the state championship can set a person up for a successful life. However, as a high football player myself, I can testify to how playing football has a significant impact on a person’s life.

Football is more than a couple of guys strapping on some pads and pounding the life out of each other. There is more to this game than being physically strong; to play football you must be mentally and emotionally strong. The beginning of August marks the start of practice at my high school. We practice twice a day for two weeks, and for the past four years these two weeks have been nothing short of miserable. Granted, I love the game but two a day practices are not fun, no matter who you are. Those first days of practice may seem miserable but they do teach you a lot about life and what kind of person you are.

Two a day practices are both physically and emotionally trying. Many times I was tempted to quit during these two weeks. Never in my life had I felt like quitting anything but once two a days started I seriously considered it. That is when I learned something about myself that I had never known for sure. I am not a quitter. We all say it but we really never know it for sure until we are pushed to the breaking point and we must decide whether or not all the pain we are going through is really worth it.

Playing football and going through two a days has helped me to mature from an young and undisciplined freshman into a motivated senior who is driven to succeed. I feel as though my experiences in football have prepared me for college life. I have learned that I must always do my best and try my hardest in all that I do, whether it’s practicing football, doing chores, or doing homework. I must never be satisfied unless I know that I have done all that I can do. This sport has taught me responsibility and respect for others both of which are characteristics that I will carry on into college and through life.

I have learned many lessons that will remain with me through life. The most important of which is to never, never give up, no matter how bad things may seem or how bad the odds are stacked against you. Many times I was tempted to quit the team, but I stuck with it and I am glad I did because it made me stronger. Football has shaped me into who I am today and I am glad that I continued to play even though it was tough.

Two A Days, by Blake Fery. In the summer of my final football season, the team finally welded all the pieces together. That blazing hot August week I learned the most important lesson of all.

The Amazing Sport: Field Hockey by Amaris Ortiz. Field Hockey is a sport that takes hard work and motivation to continually play. Field Hockey has changed me mentally, physically, and emotionally, you learn lots about yourself and your body.
