A LUCKY SHOT BY NICHOLE THOMAS, CLAY CITY HUGH SCHOOL, ILLINOIS.

My favorite sport is girl’s basketball. This sport is fun because it is a real competition, you have to work as a team or you won’t win, and it can be a challenge. I am a senior at Clay City High School but we don’t have a girl’s basketball team, so I co-op with the Noble Lady Wildcats.

I have played basketball every high school year. One year with Cisne, and two years with Noble about to make it four this year. Our team, my junior year (last year), we only had eight players with no one absent. We only had a varsity team.

I believe the best game I played was at Albion High School. We were down by four in the third quarter and I was bringing the ball down the court. I was going to pass it but everyone had someone on them so I shot the ball while crossing the half court line. The ball was bouncing around on the rim for just a few seconds and we were all holding our breath, then the ball fell through the net as the buzzer sounded. Unfortunately for the Noble Wildcats we lost, but it was a really excellent game for only having six players.

Game Day By Alexis Gilmore. The noise from people cheering faded out by the thoughts in my own head. As I’m dribbling down the court, I watch my opponent and check for an open player on the court.
