my sports hero by Hannah Quinley riverside High School greer SC

My sports hero is my dad, Jeff Quinley. My dad may not be a professional athlete but he is still a hero both on and off the course, court, or track to me.  I really admire him as an athlete, coach, and person.

My dad was very involved with sports while he was at Parkview High School in Georgia.  He played soccer, football, and baseball for Parkview and outside of school played basketball and golf.  He took his sports very serious and did very well.  My dad’s baseball team went to state but lost.  He made an error during the game and still today blames the loss on himself.  He still went on to play baseball for Georgia State.  All in all he and still is a very good athlete.

Knowing so much and being involved in many sports makes my dad a very good coach. He has taught me every thing I know about golf, basketball, soccer, and softball. He takes me to the course and range. He videos my swing so that it will improve. My dad helps me with basketball by giving me advice of what to do in different situations.

He also helps me find camps and AAU teams. My dad, unlike me is not a runner so he doesn’t know much about strides or pacing yourself. Instead, he encourages me. He came to almost all my meets even though they were really long and boring.

My dad is an awesome person. He is the loving parent that I hope to one day be. He is a Christian and strives for our family to serve God. He teaches me values like respect, responsibility, and stewardship.

My dad is an amazing athlete and great coach but most importantly a wonderful dad. He is helpful and encouraging. He really shows what it means to be a sports hero.

Momentum is a word that YOU HEAR A LOT in the sports world. It is a concept that is shared by athletes, coaches, fans and the media. The idea is that the two opposing teams work to capture the flow of the game. It is as if they wrestle for control of it and only one can possess it.
