Allegany college of Maryland

Allegany College of Maryland was established in August 1961 by resolution passed by the Allegany County Board of Education and approved by the Allegany County Commissioners. The institution, which is now governed separately by a Board of Trustees, is an example of the rapid growth in the development of the junior college system in Maryland.

The college was initially established to provide low-cost, high quality higher education for the people of the area. Its accessibility to the county's center of population permits students to reside at home, thus saving a substantial part of out-of-pocket expenses that are associated with a college education.

There was a strong emphasis placed on liberal arts transfer programs during the school's early history, recently the College has developed highly specialized curricula that includes technological and pre-professional areas as career programs aimed at satisfying the identified needs of the area.

No guts No Glory By Caroline Brainerd. While everything I pass appears as a blur, I know I must keep my eyes focused on the makeshift lines that lie ahead.

The Stereotype Of The Student-Athlete By Ja'Mel Creeks.  If not for football, I would not have had a reason to pass every year, because eligibility was much more of a concern for the team than GPA. Football was my motivation for school, because if I messed up outside the program I couldn’t stay in.
