American Football Association To Help Promote Semi-Pro and Youth Football Awareness THIS SEASON

The American Football Association's official publication, the American Football News, is currently developing a feature story together with USA Football, Incorporated.
(an NFL sponsored non-profit program) to help and assist in promoting amateur football in the United States.

The Association has recently been allowed to link their new AFNews website to USA Football’s website to help bring added awareness to the partnership that semi-professional teams across the nation have with their local youth and amateur football clubs. During July and August the American Football Association will conduct a survey to ascertain how many semi-pro football teams in the USA have real hands-on working agreements or partnerships with the youth football organizations in their local areas.

USA Football’s commitment to youth football will be showcased this coming weekend (June 25-26) in Cincinnati, Ohio as they host their 1st National Conference on Youth and Amateur Football. This conference is being heralded as the ‘Huddle 2004’ and in the center of this prestigious football huddle will be several National Football League and NFL Players Association top name executives.

While the NFL has never looked at organized semi-pro football as anything to get excited about - they may, sometime in the future, want to consider the AFA as an extension to all the work they’re doing now to get young players involved with the sport of football across the nation. “These young athletes wouldn’t always be eight to twelve years old”, says Real. “They will want somewhere to play football after their high school and college playing careers are over to continue enjoying the game they grew up to love so much”, he added. “The percentage of high school players that go on to play college football is very small compared to the number of young football players that get the opportunity to play at secondary school level.

A much smaller percentage ever get the opportunity to play football at a professional level - so our semi-professional level provides a place for those who still have a passion to play football.
